Im Vorfeld durfte man gespannt sein: Der Parcours befindet sich auf einem Golfclub; der Wetterbericht kündigte einen Wintereinbruch an.
Und Ja die Fairways sind schöner gemäht als gewohnt und Ja es war kalt.
Das Wetter war allerdings gnädiger als erwartet und Regen und Schnee kamen zum besten Zeitpunkt- in der Nacht.
Zum Kurs ist zu sagen, dass er sich perfekt eignet um neuen Spielern den Sport näher zu bringen. Für ein Ranglistenturnier war er in dieser Form etwas zu mild, in einem Wort: Birdiefest. Mit 21 Würfen unter Par reichte es für mich gerade noch für die Top10.
Mir wurde dafür gezeigt, wie viele vermeintlich einfache Birdies ich auf dem Weg lasse und nicht Kapital schlagen konnte.
Doch nicht jedem erging es so.
Katharina gelang schon in der ersten Runde ein Ass, durch Insiderinfos kann ich berichten, dass sich der Score bereits beim darauf folgenden Hole egalisierte. Trotzdem schafft sie es in die Geschichtsbücher: das erste (Turnier)Ass in Litschau ist somit vergeben.
Schoko setzte sich mit seiner ersten Runde an die Spitze des Herrenfeldes, nach einigen Führungswechseln konnte er durch solides Spiel am Ende den Sieg davon tragen. Laut Gegenspielern spielte er im Finale wie "verrückt" auf. Für mich ist das weniger Neuland, da ich das schon des öfteren in Trainings bewundern durfte. Ich bin froh, dass das nun auch andere zu Gesicht bekommen.
Bei den Damen gewinnt Katharina vor Irmgard.
Aspusiday ist somit insgesamt mit drei Spielern auf dem Stockerl vertreten. Bei den Herren sind am Ende fünf Spieler von Aspusiday unter den Top10.
Alles in allem war die Eröffnung des Parcours im Waldviertel ein Erfolg. Von nun an kann dort argumentiert werden, was den nun das richtige Golf sei.
Last Weekend was the opening tournament of the new course in Litschau.
The exciting things about the tournament: The course is on a ball golf course; the weather forecast announced winter(more or less).
And yes the fairways are in better shape than we are used to and yes it was cold.
The weather treated us kindly and timed rain and snow perfect- during the night.
The course is perfect for beginners to learn about the sport. But for a tournament the course in this layout was a bit too easy, in one word: birdiefest. At the end I was 21 under par and that was barely enough for top ten.
But I learned that I miss too many easy birdies and that I am not always able to capitalize on good shots.
Not everybody had that problem.
Katharina threw an ace in the first round, thanks to insiderinfos I can report that the score was evened on the next hole. Nonetheless it's one for the history books: the first ace in Litschau.
After round one Schoko was in the lead, after some lead changes throughout the tournament, he managed to win it at the end. Some competitors recalled he played like"crazy". For me that's nothing new, for I have seen him play in practice. But I am happy that now more players have to face it.
In the women division Katharina wins followed by Irmgard.
Three players from Aspusiday finish in the top three. In the open division five out of ten players are from Aspusiday.
All in all it was good first tounament in the Waldviertel. From now on players there can discuss which one is the right golf.
